Who will get a share of the $10K purse?

Over twenty of the top freeride athletes will battle it out for a share of the $10K purse at the 2nd Annual Bike Magazine Monster Park Slopestyle Invitational, July 1-3, at Snowshoe Mountain, West Virginia. A partial list include Rocky Mountain Rider Thomas Vanderham, Red Bull’s Aaron Chase and Race Face rider Darren Berrecloth who took home first place last year. This year’s event will continue to use the groundbreaking format introduced last summer at the inaugural Bike Magazine Monster Park at Marquette Mountain, Michigan. Monster Park is a rider-driven event—a philosophy that starts in course design and carries right through to how the event is judged. The course itself will be designed and built by Ted Tempany, an accomplished rider and one of the main builder’s behind last year’s course. Ted will incorporate rider feedback from Monster Park competitors, as well as direct input from Jeff Lenosky to construct a “snake” style course with unique features.

The unique judging format is another one of the events progressive features: The competitors themselves judge their peers in a heat format using a scoring criteria based on flow, technical difficulty and amplitude. Incorporating a slopestyle format where riders are allowed to run the course as many times as they wish in a given time allotment, competitors will choose 10 finalists to battle it out in a best run takes all afternoon of mind blowing riding.

Not only will top athletes be present, one of the most prestigious film companies in the bike world, Freeride Entertainment, will be on hand filming for their next video, Unchained.

Bike Magazine Monster Park will be hosted at Snowshoe Mountain, WV. Recognized for years as one of the best mountain biking destinations in the country, Snowshoe offers the complete freeride and downhill experience. Modeled after their sister resort, Whistler Blackcomb, Snowshoe features a mountain bike park, a mountain cross course, downhill trails and a new 'A-Line' type trail called Powerline. All trails are either lift or shuttle serviced.

Bike Magazine Monster Park is supported by: Red Bull, Oakley, Irish Springs, Rocky Mountain Bikes, Lizard Skins, Ocean Transportation Services, Viosport Camera Systems, Hayes Brakes, Race Face, Cane Creek, Freeride and Protec.
