Enduro bikes can do it all, right? Well, now they really can. If you're looking for another way to avoid paying soaring gas prices or just want to ride your mountain bike from Squamish to Whistler "for fun", like Henry Quinney or Tom Bradshaw, we've got the tires for you! Turn any mountain bike into a pavement princess with this revolutionary, patented SmoothAs tire technology.

You want compliance and efficiency? Look no further. Thanks to the help of chief prototype 700c gravel tester, Mike Levy, we've taken this space-age technology to new heights and rated them for full offroad use in either configuration. By flipping the tires inside-out, even the grippiest offroad lugs hide away for a low friction tread that will turn the longest soul crushing liaisons into a pleasant tarmac stroll. This also reduces the volume of the Ale tires, which have capabilities of reaching 99 PSI for lower rolling resistance. The rubber knobs are actually optimized cushions that provide puncture protection as a gravel specific insert we call NearAir, run-flat technology.

Gravel tires... and a high pivot. I'm so conflicted.

I don’t think you’re conflicted at all…that has Levy’s dream bike written all over it. #GnarGravel

Slick tyres, just turn your current rubber inside out?
OR is it out side in?

That's how one of my buds picked up an OnOne S36 for cheap 2nd hand, original owner bought a DH bike for commuting and only sold it when the shop told him they couldn't fit any panniers

Wait for my pic. I did this yesterday on my Giant Reign E+1.

How far into this before the mech in charge on putting those tires on the rim decided the joke was just plain stupid? lol.

I read this article on April 2 , So I did not realize it was a April 1st. Fools Joke until the second paragraph. BTW back in the old days many of us would put street tires on our mountain bikes during the week for around town riding, then install knobbies for weekend mountain riding . Then Sunday night put the street tires back on.

...go figure, everyone has been riding gravel tires all along. Jokes on us I guess

...all seriousness, will a tire hold actually hold to the rim when flipped inside out??
  • 4 0
My guess is no. i can't imagine the bead protrudes enough from the inside of the tire to hook up with the rim when turned inside out. Plus if you look at all the pics the tires are flat. I feel like if they put in this much effort for the joke, they would have made a pretty good attempt to inflate the tires if it were possible. Still pretty funny tho.

 @jgoldfield:
Hookless rims hold tires. So, with enough sealant you should be able to make it work.

@SJP: Or just throw in a tube.

Sam Pilgrim did it for a video at some point. He put it inside out on his ebike's rear tire to for some drifting slicks. Unfortunately it wore through the tire in like 5 minutes, but it held on to the rim fine

Totally just about did this with maxxis torch on my 150 travel bike which is now a road bike that doesn’t eat knobby tires. For a $100 I have a new bike.

Ok, but put those tires on the right side out and that bike looks incredible…

Meanwhile, I have a set of Hookworms that I occasionally put on my mountain bikes for just this reason.

Who else is wondering if this is actually Matt Beer’s personal rig? If so we need the details on travel front / rear ASAP.
