Jack Moir has had one hell of a year. Looking back two years ago, it seemed he might be without a race team entirely but he turned his fortune around and finished 2021 as the EWS overall series champion. Moir has battled hardship throughout his career and that was no different in 2021 as both bike and body breakages attempted to thwart his season. This year, Jack was able to shrug them off and because of his combination of speed and resilience, we crowned him our
2021 Athlete of the Year.
We thought it would be a perfect opportunity for you to ask him your questions, so we got him in for an Ask me Anything. Let him know what you want to know below:
How ‘Ask Us Anything' Works:Starting at 1:00 AM PDT/9:00 AM GMT on January 13, 2022 you can type your questions for Jack Moir into the comment box below this article and he'll have a crack at answering them. Sometimes your answer will pop up in a few seconds; others may take a few minutes while Jack works his way through questions that are popping up. Everyone who posts a question, large or small, will be taken seriously.
To make this go as smoothly as possible, try to follow these guidelines:
• Keep your questions relevant
• Stay focused and to keep your questions on one topic if possible. You can always ask about another item later
• Try to keep your questions to about 100 words
• Ask Us Anything is a service to PB readers who are seeking helpful information, not a forum to broadcast opinions or grievances. If you do have an issue that you want to ask about, no worries, just keep your complaints relevant and in the context of a question so that it can be addressed in a productive manner
• Use propping to acknowledge good (or not so good) questions and bump them up or down to where they belong
Other time zones:
• 4:00 AM EST (New York)
• 9:00 AM GMT (London)
• 10:00 AM CET (Paris)

It appears that in enduro super tacky compounds like Maxx Grip are often the norm. Do you crank up the psi to make them roll faster? Or are you just that fit it does not matter and run them in the low 20s.
Almost 50 yr old dad here going to do my first enduro and even though I'm probably going to come last, tyre pressure and tyre choice is something I have been thinking about. Would be nice to hear your take on this.
I love talking bikes, espeically Enduro.
thanks for screwing up your shoulder when you did it was perfect timing as i was doing sports med as a subject in pdh and was able to use your injury and surgery for my assessment and got super good marks
Jack was obviously very fit in 2021 - which was one of the key differences ghat separated Jack and Ritchie from the rest of the field.
From Moi Moi Tv he is obviously on a training plan - but some details about his coach and specifics about what this entails would be good.
Is Fabian a jack of all trades ? Manager / Coach / Athlete ? Or maybe - ‘always on the phone guy’ truly has a double life - sending coaching tips to all his athletes ;-)
Obviously the training was way different, so the team coach Alex helped with that a lot. And then Fab helped Me with the bike setup and the other riders on the team (ines and Party Boi) were a huge help at the races.
How old were you when you first started riding seriously and what style did you do? ♂️
From Oliver (7 years old)
Dt and Maxxis the magic combo.... Nah I don't run inserts, but I have ridden with them before.
We don't get much support currently, but also don't really need it with a factory team. I had some good help from The Aus national team when I was coming up through Rando and Amiel, but was still a struggle financially and I couldn't really of done it without the help from Mum and Dad, but some kids are not so fortunate. Not really sure what the program is now, but I think helping juniors and privateers out a little more financially. Wynn Masters is killing it with his Privateer fund. We also need another solid national series to bring the Young Aussies up, there is no way I would of made it to this level without all the racing I got to do growing up.
Do you think there is a void of a niche that is hard hitting, fast paced shreddits? Not based on jumps/tricks or even worse... Thematic and purpose-built man-made features...
Very few people can keep their head down grinding for years and not skip a beat. Same in all sports and in business, really anything.
If you can outwork em, you’ll likely beat em.
2-1 runs to go!
When's Steveo gonna join you on the EWS circuit?
Best lawn advice?
Mine:
Iron Maiden: Seventh Son
Children of Bodom: Follow reaper
Opeth: Blackwater Park
Metallica: Master of Puppets
Wilderun: Veil of Imagination
Big ups for children of bodom. Many thousands of hours trying to learn that stuff on guitar in college. Good times.
To be fair all of the ones I listed are technically also songs (with the exception of Veil).
Cheers man. Alexi was one of a kind; it's amazing how much jaw dropping virtuosity he could inject into songs that were still catchy and dripping with attitude. Their first couple albums are untouchable. I was gutted when we lost him last year
Do you know what happens to the used tyres after?
Oh and can you do private coaching? I’ll clean the bugs off your Ute!
Also, big fan of the vlogs!
Best of luck for next season!
Thanks Jack, keep on going

-Clips that were impossible to get in and out of (I'm talking needing one of those track cycling zimmer frames and a coach to help you each time)
Or is it particular to your style?
also any pro tips on being tall and getting around tight corners? (first question is more important though)
Do you plan on doing any DH races even just for fun?
Thanks!

If you could either be too hot or too cold all the time, which would you choose?
Will we see 200+mm "enduro" bikes with dual crowns?
