Kris Foster Freeriding a Moto is Seriously Rowdy

Aug 24, 2017
by Brian Park

Mountain biking has taken influences from everything from BMX to big mountain skiing, so it's always cool to see mountain bike influences in other sports. Kris Foster is a madman.

It's a new ebike with a sound box thingy !
  • 49 0
 It's called a BraaaaapBox.
  • 9 1
See, isn't it obvious dirt bikes and pedal assist is the SAME thing.
  • 91 3
I know this is pink bike and it is not a "moto" website but that was worthy of the whole Internet sharing it.....

All the real moto edits are worth watching
  • 6 0
@adrennan: All the real ________ edits are incredible. I'm so glad X Games has been doing this series. I'd really love to see something similar in mountain biking
  • 3 0
I've only watched two or three moto videos in my whole life...I watched this one four times so far. That was nuts. I had no idea. That flying sensation must be absolutely incredible. Or is it too terrifying to appreciate just how amazing it feels?

How much suspension travel do these machines have?
  • 8 0
Oh...I used to play some PS2 offroad game that had moto but I assumed it was mostly fake; turns out it's mostly not.
  • 2 0
 @ecologist: A 2016 CRF450R has 12" of travel, but weighs 248 lbs.
  • 1 0
@Track5200: Thanks! Wow...that's kind of not a lot (travel). Weight doesn't seem that unreasonable either considering what they can do, and take.
  • 3 0
 @Track5200: Ouch, a 2017 KTM 450SXF weighs 220.

Also dirt bike suspension weighs about 30 pounds, doesn't have to worry about pedal bob, and usually has more available adjustments than you can shake a stick at, and so it feels--to my untrained posterior, anyway--about 100x better than MTB squish, even though the actual travel isn't that much longer. I think the (rotating) mass of the dirt bike makes it deflect less, too, and the tires have so much sidewall that's a form of suspension itself.

You can also drop like 13 grand on dirt bike suspension if you feel like it--does such a phenomenon exist in MTB?
  • 2 0
@JustinLund: For sure, you hear that @pinkbike ?!?!
  • 1 1
 @ryetoast:

re: 13 grand...they're trying hard and I think they're getting close. It is coming.
  • 36 3
Rather watch that as a one off than some dudes skidding the f*ck out of A-Line or where ever, with the 1 minute warm up, the rain shot, the staring shot, the google shot..tbh if its not Scott Serco or Cadwell shot it's usually not all that

have i just shot myself in the foot ?
  • 4 1
 Caldwell is God
  • 7 0
You forgot bike on-and-off tailgate shot, pulling espresso shot, spinning pedal shot, etc.
  • 18 1
 Insane.
  • 17 3
I see them, they are everywhere... miserable haters, every where you go. I think they are also known as 'pinkbikers' and dicks.
  • 15 3
I thought this was super cool.
To all you haters out there, where do you think mountain bike suspension came from? Check out a 1990 moto bike as compared to a 1990 mountain bike... Look at how big this dude is sending it! Makes most things on a mountain bike look pretty small.
And you can get 50hp and some serious travel for the same price as a lot of pedal bikes!!

Please buy a motorbike and shred some private land. After, get gooned and watch Crusty Demons on repeat. Can't wait for mountain bikes to become the pedally little cousin to moto. Mountain biking on multi-use trails and public land is doomed if mtb aligns itself with moto culture. But maybe all the resort, lift access riders don't give a s---
  • 2 0
@rockyflowtbay: very true. I think he's gotten away from his f*ck it huck it ways though.

After all that stuff...MTB "gaps" look pathetic.

Awesome video, I think it really broadens our minds what is possible to do on two wheels.

Good job PB!

Pretty sure this is what the local kids think they look like when they take their stolen dirtbikes down to our trails. Unfortunately they don't seem to actually take off from them, rather, they stop on top of them and roost the lips away.

 Just like stickman game
  • 7 7
How does this man walk? Or fit his legs around that bike? He must have balls the size of melons to be pulling some of those moves
  • 14 2
As a quote I heard somewhere.... The 'He must have huge balls' analogy is so far off the mark. Balls are soft and squidgy, and one little tap and you are rolling round on the ground in agony. However, a vagina is much tougher and can take a real pounding. So I reckon he must have a huge vag.
  • 2 2
 In Elvish "mellon" means friend
  • 6 1
@bigtim: “Why do people say "grow some balls"? Balls are weak and sensitive. If you wanna be tough, grow a vagina. Those things can take a pounding.”

- Betty White (Golden Girls)
  • 1 0
@bigtim: That wasn't the only quote you'd heard before eh Wink
