 Woooo! She qualified!!
  • 16 0
So damn awesome to see Missy on the list again.
  • 3 0
What bike is The Missile riding?
  • 4 0
Looks like she's on a YT--This slideshow shows a photo sequence of her crashing the YT; she said she was worried that the "plastic bike" would break: www.vitalmtb.com/photos/features/Missy-Giove-at-the-2015-Windham-World-Cup,9260/Slideshow,0/sspomer,2

Thanks for the link, it does look like a Yt. Gotta hand it to Missy, she still has that dirty little potty mouth runnin wild.
  • 2 0
Just how I remember her! What a legend of the sport, can't condone the drug stuff, but it doesn't detract from her performances and personality! Great to see her still up there with barely riding in years, that's raw talent
  • 6 0
Apparently Zink and some other folks got together to get her a bike and gear for the weekend. Would be awesome to see her crack the top 10 first time out in years.
  • 2 1
^^^ Thanks for the link. Missy can still point it. Looked like a lot of her time/speed loss was in the corners, everywhere else she was hauling
.
  • 2 0
Isnt that just rat boy doing it though ?! Watch the helmet come off ...
  • 1 1
Need to get that comment to 420 props.
  • 1 1
how is PB not making a bigger deal out of that run?? no spotlight? warner said that was "one" of the best race runs he has ever seen. only thing I have ever seen comparable is danny harts run. where is the gwin love story? geeeeeeeeeeeeeez. Q-Q
  • 54 0
Well done Rach!! 471 points difference now and only 450 on the table. If my maths is correct then Rah is the winner of the 2015 world cup!!
  • 7 0
She is on "Fiya" haha! Yep congrats to here
  • 4 2
She should keep racing. Any by that I mean keep trying to win each race and not dial it back and take the easy win. That's my 2 cents. Go Rachel!
  • 9 3
BULLDOG 7th !!!!!! YYYYEEEEAAAAAAA Matt Walker 11th !!!!!!! Holy this is awesome for the kiwis ~ Put on the gas boys get on top !!!
  • 2 0
I agree, I think she should continue to truly destroy these other ladies to the point others pick up the pace and put in the extra effort "it appears" she has the last 5-6 seasons on her riding and technical ability. I'm sure all the ladies train in the off-season and are all fit but after watching these races Rach seems to have bike control and confidence far beyond much of the ladies field (they may argue, but I see what I see). Just look at the times! And that's not in a good "rob warner" way. If the others want to win, they can't rely on Rachel to fall each race to pick up some points. Top 10 ladies and they're +20 seconds off....
  • 1 0
Yup, she has won the overall title now.
  • 38 1
Loic Bruni has been so close all year. So as much as it pains me to root for a Frenchman I'd love to see him win one. Just not this one cause you know...'murica.
  • 18 3
Gwin won in France, Bruni will win in America, just for good measure.
  • 24 0
Welcome back to the top Myriam. You're in Rachael's rear view mirror now. She needs some damn competition.
  • 4 0
Yeah that was quick wasn't it! Right back up there.
  • 26 2
Missy in at 17th! A couple days on the bike in the last decade and still holding it down.
  • 3 0
scribd is broken at work for me... how large is women's field? I know it's smaller on the NA rounds since MTB companies don't give girls money, & a bunch of them can't make it over here...
  • 13 2
 The MISSLE has been launched.
  • 2 1
pretty damn cool.the missle 2x the age of the young guns
  • 6 2
Actually really impressed. She said she's only ridden a bike 16 times in the last decade... 8th at the first split before going off course is pretty wild.
  • 2 1
Too much stokage! Such a cool flashback. I hope she has a blast and keeps it right way up. Go Missy!!!
  • 1 0
8th through the speed trap, 16th at the first split, but impressed too. Can't wait for tomorrow!

Shows what a joke women's DH racing is.
  • 5 2
Shows that Missy is a fucking pro you mean. Some people are just wired like that, they go fast by default.
  • 2 0
Is she racing a YT? If so, That brand is getting really interesting.
  • 6 3
This won't be popular, but I have no love for Missy Giove. There ain't too much professional about the way she acts, and the fact that people put her weed running, weed smoking actions on some type of pedestal is pretty lame in my opinion, she is a grown woman acting like an angst-filled teenager. Nothing cool about that really. Also, @Jackquinn she is on a YT, those things are ridiculous for the money.
  • 2 3
Cos yeah ragging a DH bike down a hill as fast as you dare is all about being professional. Get the stick outta your arse you boring git.

Of course kids put her weed smoking on a pedestal. Kids always look up to adults who say "f*ck your rules, I'm gonna do what I wanna do."

Certain kids also get all excited when they hear about weed cos they think it's cool and spend most of their lives being told it's taboo and naughty. Which is generally the best way to make a kid really really want something. Perhaps it isn't great that she is seen as a role model and also a weed smoker, but whenever I have heard her talk about it, it has always been the interviewer who brought it up, not her.
  • 4 2
17'th would be impressive if she wasn't 36 seconds back.
  • 3 3
Did you hear her Vital interview with Bryceland the other day? She's an absolute melter. And yea, at WC level it obviously is about being professional, you arse-tastic git.
  • 2 1
Bloody hell, whats happened to mtb? cheer up for gods sake!

Tahnee Seagrave got 3rd at 10 seconds back. Suppose thats not impressive either?

Being "professional" does nothing good for you, other than making other people look at you differently. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think WC DH is mostly about being good at riding a bike down a hill at speeds most people would think are crazy. "Crazy" and "Professional" is not a very common mixture.
  • 3 1
Yeah, it's kinda of weird calling them pros when 3rd place is 10 seconds back.
  • 1 1
So its weird calling them pro's cos Athertons so bloody good. Hell, second place was 4 seconds back in the mens race. Guess they aren't really pros either. Basically what you are saying is, "if you aren't the best on the face of the planet, you're shit"

Are you the best on the face of the planet?
  • 3 2
I think you lack critical thinking skills. It's weird calling them pros when the talent pool is so shallow. Competition is very low. 'Qualifying' requires just showing up basically. And none of them make a real salary. All of those components aggregated together make it difficult to call them pros, yes.

An no, I'm slow as sh*t compared to pros. But then again I have a real job where I make lots of money and a future ahead of me. So that provides me some consolation at least.
  • 5 1
I think you lack the necessary information to discern what level my critical thinking skills are at.

The fact that they are required by contract to ride bikes, in return for some form of reimbursment, makes them professional bike riders. Commonly shortened to pro's.

So they are pro's, and they are also shit hot at riding bikes. Thats why they get paid to ride and you and I don't.

Yes the womens field is smaller than the mens. And yes Atherton is currently blowing the rest of them out of the water. But the 20ish women who raced Windham are still the 20 best female downhillers on the planet. Your derision of their incredible talent suggests to me that perhaps you aren't as satisfied by your "lots of money and a future" as you had expected.

Chin up mate. Try being really nice to everyone you meet. Much more of a sense of well being and happiness from that than from any amount of money.
  • 3 1
a "real" job compared to these athletes? that's insulting and judgmental af to say. it's all real. they are all fairly young. maybe some still in school or have other skills and interest in other pursuits after they have finished their mtb careers.
  • 4 2
"A real job" was the worst comment I've ever seen on Pinkbike. Please leave, you are not welcome here.
  • 2 0
 I can't leave, it's a disease. I'm a disease too.

funny how chains start breaking regularly now that we're at 11 speed....clutch derailleurs increasing momentary force placed on chain? those are my best conspiracy theory on this one.
  • 20 0
Gwin now needs those extra points. No messing about.
  • 15 1
Gooooooo Klein, Harrison, Simon and Kniss !!!!

 Indeed. "LIVE" timing is "DEAD".
  • 8 0
It appears as though there is nothing happening at this time and thus no feed.
  • 3 2
Last week in MSA when a field was done it indicated waiting for next group to go and results of previous were posted below the feed. There are no results for Jr's hence it is broken.
  • 3 0
Juniors are done and women don't start for another 20 minutes.

"The is a course hold on women's qualifying with a rider down."

Shiiiit, I really hope Missy is alright.
  • 15 0
Missy is heading back up now for her run. She was red flagged during her initial run for a course hold.
  • 2 1
whew, thanks for that... now I hope the lady before her is OK. too bad we won't see how Missy did.
  • 2 0
whew. hope rider is ok.. let's go giove!
  • 8 1
Rumor is, Giove rerun will be after all the men have bombed the course into dust and craters. Sweet...not.
  • 7 0

  • 22 0
 yeah...he's kinda fast.
  • 6 0
I actually thought Neko could have a real big season..just going from one bad run to another
  • 6 0
Remember when everyone thought he would be the new front runner on the Scott team? Now Brendan is rocking the 10 plate and Neko with 39. Shame though, hoped they would both be kicking ass.
  • 5 1
might catch some hate on this but it seems like the jump to scott has been hard for brendan and niko. I remember brendan being more competitive with specialized then it seemed like he kinda fell back for a while once he went to scott. maybe just team differences or maybe the bike took some getting used to. I'm stoked to see brendan back on his game tho hopfully niko will get back on pace soon too
  • 1 0
He lost his chain at the top of the track. Tough course for any mishap with such tight times
  • 1 0
@nismo325 brendan was at his absolute worst when he left specialized, so was sam hill. Now theyre both consistently in the top 10 hunt. Lets not forget about gwins first year on specialized.
  • 5 0
Is that a legitimate name for the junior rider? Harry Bush? (24th Juniors) whah ha ha
  • 1 0
the parents must be real special, one way or another.
  • 3 0
Since when is Lorenzo Suding racing again? I remember that he had a serious car accident one year ago. Glad to see him racing again!
  • 5 0
 Why isn't Jill Kintner racing?
  • 3 0
 Probably at Crankworx racing
  • 12 1
Unless its by her choice, norco is blowing it by not supporting a wcdh program for her.
  • 1 0
I agree. I was really looking forward to seeing her on the podium tomorrow.
  • 5 0
Matt walker you the man Allright
  • 3 1
Why isnt Bubba Warren racing all wc's? Thought he was one of the next big riders from the US.
Also, looking like Charlie Harrison has a bright future ahead.
  • 6 1
 Come on Missy!
  • 5 0
 MISSY QUALIFIED!!!
  • 3 1
*POUNDS FIST* and I put the Rat as my pick to win in the vital contest!! Unless Gwin wrecks hes got a great shot!! This is what I get for capitulating with the Redcoats!
  • 2 0
Giove, Lopes, Tinker, and Gracia...and I think even Cadel Evans, the old school Cannonade team was LEGIT! Great to see her back on it.
  • 5 2
 Remy Metailler for the win!
  • 5 3
I heard Ratboy stopped and took a selfie with some hot chick on the course - one cool dude..
  • 6 2
 gwin for the win!!!
  • 4 0
 Come on Brosnan!!
  • 2 0
What's happening with Manon this year? Thought she'd be putting more pressure on Rach.
  • 2 0
Gwinn, youre my hero and you had better win this one for the good 'ol US of A!!
  • 2 0
I believe Missy true destiny was to be in a biker gang; somewhere along the line she got the two confused.
  • 2 0
For a shorter track the times difference is a lot greater then expected.
  • 1 0
Wow, thought maybe manon had a lil trouble after seeing rach's time, but dunno...rach is just smoking the field!
  • 2 0
 Aaaaaand DNF . . . . Damn
  • 4 1
 Yeah Gwin
  • 3 0
 Dickson for the win.....
  • 3 0
 Lets go IMOTO HAJIME!!!!

  • 1 0
BOTH the Junior Men's and Junior Women's fastest Qualifier are IRISH!!!! way to go Jacob and Sacha!!!!!!!
  • 2 0
WTF America, Missy Giove is the ONLY USA woman to qualify?
  • 2 1
Loic, the Peter Sagan of DH
  • 1 0
Ouch. Peter HAS won a couple of races this year, you know. But, yes, I get the "Always a bridesmaid, never a bride" sentiment.
  • 1 0
I see what he's saying but I would never say ouch to anyone being compared Sagan. Also Loic too HAS won a couple races this year, just not WC.
  • 1 0
Or Greg , or Josh , or Steve , or troy , or anyone really!!!
  • 1 0
How's the men elite overall standing so far?
  • 2 0
 Yeah Charles!
  • 1 0
Ummm, Rach? Slow down and give then other girls a chance, maybe?
  • 1 0
If I were a highly competitive woman I would probably find my time on the men's rankings and see all the names in front. Heck with the women's field...those are the people I'd actually be racing against. Or at the very least, racing the clock...the clock always has a better time.
  • 1 0
"Brendan Fairclough has broken his chain during his qualifying run.
  • 1 0
My phone is being an asshole...
  • 4 7
seriously???? gwin did a run without a chain from top to bottom and won a freacking wc and brendan is 2 min behind without a chain?? what is this...
  • 3 6
now that i think about it he propably broke it on a low speed section where you could not get any speed to finish your run so yeah Smile
  • 1 0
What happened to make Wallace DNF?
  • 1 0

  • 2 0

  • 1 0
 You missed my point
  • 1 0
 Let's go Gwin!!
