The results are in from Val di Sole as riders battled slick conditions with some incredible runs coming together at the fourth round of the 2024 World Cup series.
Tahnee Seagrave is back on top as she takes the win for the first time in three years. Seagrave was fastest through the upper track sectors putting at least 1.8 seconds into every other rider before she ran a steady lower part of the course to end the day 0.32 seconds up. Marine Cabirou tried to pull back a big lead from Seagrave in the finals sectors but couldn't quite shut the gap before the finish line. Monika Hrastnik was the only other rider within a second of Seagrave, completing the elite women's top three 0.941 back.
What a run from Aamury Pierron. After Dakotah Norton's time remained unbeaten for over an hour Pierron lays down another legendary run making his return to the top of the podium by 4.893 seconds. One second back from Norton, Finn Iles has a great ride in third place.

I still can't believe what I saw...

Certainly one for the ages.
They also fixed the Picture in Picture with the team managers. It’s small and out of the way. I actually enjoyed watching Max while Amaury was coming down.
Not sure I love this - it can be good to carry on watching to see how well someone recovers their run after a crash, and sometimes they'll send some nice jumps and whips if they're way back on the clock. I would have been sad to miss a Kade Edwards post-crash run in the past!
Brutally good
Also... sooo much better watching the ladies this year without Cedric's oft repeated and pretty pathetic "riding the black snake" calls
Coverage has been level with RB and ok no Rob but Josh and Aaron have been pretty good and getting better together.

It came from US ball sports where there is so much downtime and the rules are often so opaque that it needed someone to explain what was happening when they aren't playing.
And to be fair it works there.
But using it elsewhere it's degenerated now to one person being trying to talk continuously (whilst mentioning sponors) which just ends up being banal non-sense until they run dry before throwing it to the 'expert' for 5 seconds until they get their breathe back and start again.
It's ruined watching supercross (could just be RC though!!)
I don't see what is wrong with having knowledgeable commentators with good chemistry who can share air time and their insights with the audience.
I don't know if this is due to some fear that people will lose focus the second some nice host or commentator stops "helping" them to follow things or what. I almost find it the opposite, I don't need to (or can't) focus on the show as much since there's constantly someone talking over what's happening. At times when I've had to do something on the side while watching a race I've rather sadly noticed I don't really need to watch the screen to keep up as the commentary is so full. Which is of course helpful in those moments, but then again, this isn't supposed to be a radio broadcast where people can't see what's happening.
Kate Mason is a terrible anchor as well. She was spouting some absolute nonsense in the intro - I’ve watched it twice now and I still have absolutely no idea what she was talking about.
Next generation of DH bikes will have steel chainstays, chain pivot height operable by a lever on the handlebars, and ~7cm bar rise
